Two Winston-Salem men charged with rape

Two men were arrested last night on charges that they raped a 19-year-old woman, the Winston-Salem Police said in a news release today.

Police officers went to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Dec. 29 on a report of a rape.

They met with a 19-year-old woman who said she she was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance and another man who she knew only as "Self."

The case was referred to the Criminal Investigations Unit, and yesterday, Talut Cash Oakes, 29, of 949 Cranford St., and Ishmael Artay Knight, 25, of 120 Rain Ridge Lane, Apt. 3, were both charged with first-degree rape.

Oakes is a registered sex offender because of a 2000 conviction and is being held in the Forsyth County Jail on a $1.25 million bond. Knight is in the Forsyth County Jail on a $500,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
