A fire caused extensive damage to a home in eastern Forsyth County Monday, fire officials said.

Kent Berrier, the interim chief for the Piney Grove Fire and Rescue Department, said the fire started about 1:30 p.m. at the home, 7205 Hollyhock Road, just outside of Kernersville. When firefighters arrived, there were flames shooting out of both floors of the two-bedroom home. Damage to the home and contents was estimated at $175,000 to $200,000, Berrier said.

Two people lived in the home. They were not identified. According to county property tax records, the home is owned by Nancy and Joseph B. McClinton Jr.

There were no injuries.
