HONOLULU
Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh remained hospitalized in Hawaii yesterday after experiencing chest pains similar to a heart attack, according to the guest host on Limbaugh's syndicated radio show.
Limbaugh was taken to a Honolulu hospital Wednesday during a vacation.
On the radio show yesterday, guest host Walter E. Williams described Limbaugh's pains as similar to the feeling of a "heart attack coming on." He said that doctors haven't confirmed whether Limbaugh, 58, had a heart attack and that more exams were planned yesterday.
Williams said that any information about the cause of the pain would have to come from Limbaugh himself.
"He's doing very well, and he appreciates your prayers and concerns," Williams said, asking callers to just say "dittos" for their well-wishes and get on to questions on political and social issues.
Williams, an economics professor at George Mason University, was already scheduled to fill in yesterday.
Limbaugh's medical crisis comes just as Greensboro radio station WGBT-FM (94.5) has rebranded itself as "Rush Radio," with a lineup of conservative talk shows.
Limbaugh's show moved from WSJS-AM (600), where it had been broadcast for the past 20 years, to 94.5 FM yesterday, starting with the noon broadcast.
Through this weekend, 94.5 FM will broadcast "Best of Rush" compilations of Limbaugh's radio program, leading into its new lineup on Monday.
