WILKESBORO -- Former first lady Laura Bush and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin are scheduled to visit Wilkesboro this summer for a women's expo, according to the host Blue Ridge Educational Resource Group.
The Complete Woman Expo 2010 will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on the MerleFest grounds at Wilkes Community College. The expo is free.
There will be a VIP luncheon for 75 people with Laura Bush at noon. Tickets are $500.
A book signing session, for 75 people, will be held in the afternoon with Palin, before she speaks at 4 p.m.
Palin is scheduled to appear in Charlotte the day before she visits Wilkesboro.

Temple University dance team in wreck on way to N.C.; 1 killed
DINWIDDIE, Va. -- Virginia state police say one person was killed and seven injured when a van carrying a Temple University dance team to North Carolina crashed on Interstate 85 in southern Virginia.
The Temple University Bhangra dance team, which performs traditional Indian dances, was traveling to Durham for a competition.
Police say Kammini Ragoopath, 21, of Lansdale, Pa., died early Saturday after the van veered off the highway and hit a guard rail in Dinwiddie County. Another passenger, Fatima Pervaiz, 20, was flown to a Richmond hospital with serious injuries. Her hometown was not available.
Ragoopath, a sophomore kinesiology major, and Pervaiz were not wearing seat belts, police said.
The driver, Bilal Badruddin, 20, of Cranford, N.J., was charged with reckless driving.
Badruddin and five other passengers were taken to a Petersburg hospital with minor injuries.
Police find two bodies after call by man confessing to killings
GARNER -- Police say they found two dead bodies at a home after a man called 911 to confess to two killings.
Police officers were dispatched to a home after the call Thursday and found the bodies of Daniel Jonathan Powell, 52, and his wife, Doreen Kay Powell, 46.
According to information in a search warrant, a man called 911 from Dan Powell's cell phone to say he had just killed two people.
Garner police Sgt. Chris Clayton said the case is being investigated as a homicide but detectives don't yet have a suspect.
