Forsyth County Public Library branches are offering two food-related activities Tuesday in honor of Black History Month:
Chef Don McMillan will give a cooking demonstration and talk about his catering and cooking-school business at 10 a.m. at the Reynolda Manor library, 2839 Fairlawn Drive. For more information, call 703-2960.
Jennifer Stevenson will lead a forum titled "Soul of the South: How Home Cookin' Created a Home" at 6:30 p.m. at the Carver School Road library, 4915 Lansing Drive. People are invited to share a favorite recipe, story and dessert. This sessions is co-sponsored by the Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center. For more information, call 774-2085.

Big Eat program returns to restaurants through March
The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership has again organized downtown restaurants to offer a "Big Eat: promotion in which each participating restaurant offers a signature dish for half price on Tuesday nights.
The Big Eat offer will be good through March 30.
The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership said that the Big Eat, first offered last winter, was brought back by popular demand from customers.
More than 20 restaurants are participating, including Christopher's, 6th & Vine, Finnegan's Wake, Foothills Brewing and W-S Prime.

Celebrities to serve diners in Make-A-Wish fundraiser
The Make-A-Wish Foundation will have its third annual Celebrity Serve for Wishes fundraiser in Winston-Salem on Tuesday.
The fundraiser teams local restaurants with celebrities who pitch in as servers and table hosts during lunch or dinner.
All tips to the celebrities will go to the foundation, and participating restaurants will donate 10 percent of the cost of each meal.
Participating restaurants include Bib's Downtown, Diamondback Grill, Mozelle's and Sweet Potatoes.
Celebrities include some of Bowman Gray Stadium's Madhouse drivers; Julie Tesh, Miss North Carolina International 2009; WXII-TV anchor Cameron Kent; and Michael Hastings, the Winston-Salem Journal's food editor.
