Jim O'Neill, a Republican, filed yesterday to run for Forsyth County District Attorney at the State Board of Elections office in Raleigh.

Gov. Bev Perdue appointed O'Neill to replace long-time District Attorney Tom Keith, who retired after 19 years on Nov. 30.

O'Neill jointed the Forsyth County District Attorney in 1997. He heads a staff of 25 prosecutors in the DA's office.
