A Lexington man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 1-year-old child in November, Davidson County Sheriff's authorities said this morning.
Travis Christopher Lemmond, 20, was charged Monday with one count of murder and one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. Lemmond was arrested at a Cabin in mineral Springs.
Authorities said the child was taken to Lexington memorial Hospital Nov. 20. Doctors attempted to revive the child but were not successful.
Investigators have been working on the case since November, interviewing family members and collecting evidence. The case was taken to the district attorney's office after getting the final autopsy report.
Davidson County authorities have not released the name of the child or the relationship between the child and Lemmond.
Lemmond is being held in the Davidson County jail without bond.
