A low-pressure system moving into the Carolinas from the west tonight is bringing the threat of more winter weather to the state. The National Weather Service says that a mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain is possible Tuesday morning in the Triad before the precipitation changes to rain in the afternoon. Some mountain counties could get another two to three inches of snow.
The storm system could also kick up strong northwest winds when it moves off the North Carolina coast Wednesday. Given the recent rainfall and ground conditions, the weather service warns that the strong winds could result in more downed trees and power lines.
