RALEIGH

Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., has $4.3 million available to spend on his re-election bid this year.

The Republican legislator's campaign reported Monday that it had raised $1.2 million in the last quarter of 2009. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall's campaign reported having more than $200,000 cash on hand while a spokesman for former state Sen. Cal Cunningham has previously reported having $300,000 available.

A spokeswoman for Durham attorney Kenneth Lewis didn't immediately return a message seeking details on his fund raising.

Burr faces his first Senate re-election in November. Before that, the Democrats will compete in the state's May primary.
