The state Employment Security Commission is set to release local unemployment data for August this morning.

North Carolina's unemployment rate decreased to 10.8 percent in August, according to figures released last week. State labor analysts attributed the drop to a small loss in the labor force.

In Winston-Salem, the July unemployment rate was 10.3 percent, down from 10.4 percent the previous month.
