John Edwards' presidential campaign account has spent more than $600,000 this year, distributing cash for salaries, legal expenses, airfare and hotel stays.
Monthly finance records filed with the Federal Elections Commission show the Democrat's account has paid more than $150,000 to the Washington-based law firm Utrecht & Phillips, PLLC for consulting and legal services.
The campaign also spent thousands on salaries for about six people, but the filings don't specifically describe their jobs. FEC records show the committee still has $3.7 million left in its account.
Edwards dropped out of the presidential campaign in early 2008. He's remained largely secluded since August 2008, when he acknowledged having an affair as he plotted the White House bid.
