A Winston-Salem man was arrested Wednesday on drug trafficking and other related charges.
Alfred Cleotha Spease, 30, of 1017 Charles St., faces charges from an incident that took place on Nov. 10.
Spease is accused of having at least 28 grams of cocaine, according to court records. He was also charged with possession with intent to sell or distribute undisclosed amounts of cocaine and marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Spease was in the Forsyth County jail last night with bond set at $150,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 10.
Greensboro motel site of homicides
GREENSBORO -- Police are trying to figure out how to root out drugs and prostitution from a motel that has been the scene of three homicides in the past five weeks.
Greensboro Police Chief Tim Bellamy said that in the spring, officers increased patrols and sting operations at the LandMark Inn near Interstate 40.
The extra patrols helped somewhat, but Bellamay says that a lot of crime happens inside the rooms.
Police say that the motel has a state-of-the art security system and workers help police any way they can.
Bellamay said that hiring off-duty security at the motel could help.
Mother, 2 children die in crash
CREEDMOOR -- The N.C. Highway Patrol reported that a woman and her two young children died in a one-vehicle crash in Granville County.
Melissa Jo Bullock, 26, of Louisburg, her 5-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son all died at the scene around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, authorities say.
Trooper David Stuart said that police had originally reported that Bullock was pregnant. He said that her family says she was not pregnant.
Bullock lost control of her car on a rural road near N.C. 96, running off the road then overcorrecting, hitting a ditch and flipping into a tree, troopers said.
