DURHAM
A small plane has crashed in a field in central North Carolina and the two people on board managed to escape before a fire started.
The single-engine Cessna crashed Wednesday near the Chatham-Durham county line, according to WRAL-TV. The names of the people on the plane were not immediately available.
A Chatham County Sheriff's spokesman said that firefighters worked to put out the fire. Aerial photos on WRAL's Web site showed a burned-out nose and cockpit with part of the tail remaining.
