Appalachian State will play host to S.C. State in the first round of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
The game is scheduled for noon Saturday and will be televised by ESPNU.
The Mountaineers (9-2) and Bulldogs (10-1) met in Boone in last year's first round. The Mountaineers won 37-21 and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual national champion Richmond.
If the Mountaineers win their first-round game, they will play the winner of Saturday's game between Elon and fourth-seeded Richmond in the quarterfinals. If ASU and Richmond both win in the first round, the second-round game will be at Richmond.
ASU is ranked No. 5 in the latest FCS poll, which was released yesterday. S.C. State is No. 7.
Montana (11-0) is seeded No. 1 in the 16-team playoff field. Villanova (10-1) is No. 2, and Southern Illinois No. 3
