This is in response to the Nov. 11 letter "Squandered tax incentives." I am sorry the writer feels a bit cheated about the distribution of the refund from Dell. I would like to point out that when the city or county has a shortfall of funds or they need money for something, they sometimes raise the property taxes on the homeowner. Renters such as he are never affected by this, so why should not the homeowner receive a break for a change?

Pray for Obama
I receive too many anti-President Obama e-mails and delete most of them. I didn't vote for him and certainly wouldn't ever, but I do respect the office he holds.
And while I also appreciate his oratorical abilities and powers of persuasion, I vehemently oppose his positions on most matters of importance to me, such as pro-government support for abortion, gay marriage, immigration reform, his indecisiveness on military and security matters, and his seemingly cozy relationship with radical Islamic heads of state, to name just a few.
The Bible states that we should pray for those in authority. Barack Obama is our president and I do pray for him to succeed, but only as he would seek guidance from the Almighty. That's God, for those in the ACLU.
Yes, do pray for President Obama. Psalm 109:8.

Everlasting memories
I had the honor and privilege to be on the second Triad Flight of Honor to Washington on Oct. 28 with 101 other World War II veterans ("A Place of Honor," Oct. 29). It was a day of emotion, anticipation and excitement; tiring, but nevertheless enjoyable with everlasting memories.
There were 50 or so fine volunteers and guardians from the Rotary clubs, including medical staff and, of course, Kimberly Van Scoy and her fine staff from WXII-TV. They attended to our every need.
Arriving to a band playing tunes of the 1940s, we boarded buses with police escort to the World War II Memorial. We were visited by our elected representatives, then after lunch toured the city with a guide pointing out historical buildings and statues. We then visited the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean and FDR memorials, making our final lap around Arlington Cemetery to visit the Iwo Jima and Air Force memorials. Concluding our visit, we returned to the airport for our return flight to Greensboro.
On arrival, we were met by a cheering crowd of patriotic groups, friends and family. This was a tremendous experience similar to the reaction by the people when the war ended in 1945. All the veterans I talked to couldn't say enough about how much they enjoyed this trip. They would probably never have done this on their own.
I would like to encourage the Triad to continue to support the flights scheduled for next year. This is indeed a worthy cause.

Minority and majority
Why is it that in the United States, the minority controls the majority? The 10-percent minority controls the 90 percent who practice Christian religions. Same-sex marriage rights have more power in the media than the majority of people who believe marriage is between man and woman. Over thousands of years upon this earth, the major religions of the world condemned same-sex marriage.
God's laws have never changed, but now we want to change the law. Man can make wrong into right if it is preached long enough and repeated many times. Adolph Hitler had the people of Germany believing that the Jews should be persecuted because the propaganda machine had repeated it so many times that people eventually believed that it was right.
When do the majority of the people in this nation stop having their rights condemned? It is now the time that we, the majority, fight by writing and voicing our views in public rather than keeping quiet and complacent.
