Q. How did water get on the moon? -- A.G.
A. NASA announced Friday that spacecraft it deliberately crashed into the moon in October had kicked up debris that contained at least 25 gallons of water. That is changing the way people look at the moon.
"Some space-policy experts say that makes the moon attractive for exploration again," the Associated Press reported. "Having an abundance of water would make it easier to set up a base camp for astronauts, supplying drinking water and a key ingredient for rocket fuel."
But many questions remain to be answered, including how water got to the moon.
"Possible sources include comets and asteroids, which are considered likely sources of the water on Earth," the Los Angeles Times said. "It's also possible the hydrogen was delivered by solar wind to the lunar surface, where it was converted to water. In shadowed craters, the water could be stored as ice for billions of years."
Q. With the recent articles concerning the home makeover in Lexington, there is never any mention of taxes. How can families afford the tax bill? -- R.P.
A.
