Elderly man in motorized wheelchair hit by car

A car struck an elderly man in a motorized wheelchair Saturday near downtown Winston-Salem.

The incident happened about 9 a.m. at the intersection of Sixth and Poplar streets, Winston-Salem Police said.

The victim, Walter Murrill, 77, a resident of the Crystal Towers apartments on Sixth Street, was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

No charges will be filed, police also said.
