Home Briefs: Growing fruit presentation at library

Rita Gale Cruise will discuss growing fruit at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Southside Branch Library, 3185 Buchanan St. Topics will include soil preparation, number of plants needed, pruning and harvesting. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Master gardeners to talk about color

The Forsyth Extension Master Gardener Volunteers will present color in the winter landscape at 6 p.m. Monday at the Clemmons Library Branch, 3554 Clemmons Road, and at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Reynolda Manor Library Branch, 2839 Fairlawn Drive. The program will give tips on how to increase the color in the home landscape for the winter season. Both are free and open to the public.

Garden designer to talk about hedges

Sprig Parker, a garden designer, will discuss the role of hedges and hedgerows in landscaping at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Education Wing of the Reynolda Gardens greenhouse, 100 Reynolda Village.

Admission is $5; admission is free for Friends of Reynolda Gardens members.

DCCC to offer green-living courses

Davidson County Community College will offer green technology and energy-conservation courses in November as part of an effort to provide information on sustainable living practices.

□ Energy conservation and sustainable practices for homeowners will meet from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday on the DCCC campus. The cost is $20.

□ Energy conservation practices for construction personnel will meet from 6-9 p.m. Thursday and Nov. 19 on the DCCC campus. The cost is $40.
