GREENSBORO
Three workers at a major North Carolina hospital are gone after failing to get vaccinated against the seasonal flu.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported Thursday that the employees resigned from Moses Cone Hospital after failing to take a mandatory seasonal flu vaccine by the Oct. 31 deadline.

Their names and positions were not released.

The Greensboro hospital required all employees to receive the vaccine in September, the first time it has made the shot mandatory. The hospital also requires employees to be vaccinated against the H1N1 swine flu.

Hospital spokesman Doug Allred said more than 8,000 employees and volunteers took the seasonal flu vaccine. He said employees take vaccinations for other illnesses including the measles and mumps.
