Three former crew members of the anti-piracy ship run by Xe, the security contractor formerly known as Blackwater, say that the ship's superior officers maintained a hostile work environment.
Two former employees say they witnessed racial harassment, The Virginian-Pilot reported yesterday. Both filed complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
A third crew member has sued the company, accusing the ship's captain of improperly ordering him handcuffed soon after firing him.
Xe spokeswoman Anne Tyrrell said that the three people accusing the company were "dismissed ... for poor performance and cause." She said that the company does not tolerate discrimination.
