Police: Man cited after firing BB rifle near Old Town Elementary

A Winston-Salem man was cited this afternoon after he fired a BB rifle in the air near the playground of Old Town Elementary School, police said.
Police said the man cited for a violation of city code was Corey Lamont McNeil, 37, of 3630 Yarborough Avenue, Apt. G.
McNeil was not firing toward the school or students, police said.
Officers were called to 3806 Talcott Avenue about 1:10 p.m., after someone saw a man shooting a rifle into the air near the school. Talcott runs behind Old Town Elementary.
Police said McNeil admitted firing the BB rifle and gave it to the officers.
