Man dies in Ashe County crash

A man was killed in a single-car crash in Ashe County yesterday, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.

Lester Jones, 66, of West Jefferson died after his car went off the road and struck a large rock while he was driving on Boggs Road, about four miles south of West Jefferson, said Trooper Chuck Olive. Jones died at the scene.

The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m., Olive said. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, he said.
