Q. I have several pairs of eyeglasses, in excellent shape, that I would like to recycle. Where can I do that in Winston-Salem? -- M.C.

A. You can take used eyeglasses to the N.C. Eye Bank at 3900 Westpoint Blvd., Suite F, in Stratford Business Park. The office is staffed 24 hours a day, and donations are accepted at all hours. The telephone number is 765-0932.

The Lions Club also accepts eyeglasses. There are a number of drop-off locations here, including at the Optical Shop at Belk in Hanes Mall. You may also find donation boxes at other shops, churches and libraries, or you can give them to any Lions Club member.

For a more information, go to www.lionsclubs.org.

The eye bank and Lions Clubs send used eyeglasses to a company that separates them by prescription and size. The glasses are sent to doctors at clinics in Third World countries where they are given to people who otherwise might not get eyeglasses.
