BEAUFORT
The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission is meeting to discuss land use for Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Carteret County, and the use of sandbags as erosion control.

The two-day meeting begins Wednesday at the NOAA/NCNERR Administration Building in Beaufort.

Division of Coastal Management staff are also presenting changes to the general permit for sandbags.
The use of sandbags to stop erosion has been an ongoing issue.

North Carolina has banned seawalls but allows sandbags on ocean beaches as a temporary erosion control measure.
