A $1 million federal grant to a North Carolina county and town is expected to create 100 jobs and generate millions in investment.
The Commerce Department said Tuesday the Economic Development Administration grant will be shared between Harnett County and the town of Lillington.
The grant will be used to improve water, sewer, road and drainage for Harnett County's science and technology park. Officials estimate it will generate $56 million in private investment.
Harnett County had an 11.7 percent unemployment rate in May.
Lillington is about 30 miles north of Fayetteville.
