»  Comments

KING — A King police officer was injured when his patrol car collided with a pickup truck this morning.

Officer Bryan Brown is in serious condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Brown was heading south on Main Street on an emergency call when he lost control of his car after swerving to avoid hitting another vehicle.

The patrol car skidded and spun into the northbound lane where it hit a curb and the pickup, said Kevin Hennelly, a spokesman for the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Robert Brodhead, the pickup's driver, was also taken to Baptist with minor injuries.

The wreck occurred about half a mile north of the intersection of Main Street and U.S. Route 52.

Main Street has a northbound and a southbound lane and a turning lane.

The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
