Wine: Hanover Park Vineyard Vin D'Orange.
Cost: $25 for a 375-ml bottle.
Review: Winemaker Michael Helton, a Francophile, makes an orange-flavored wine fortified with brandy that is typically made in homes in the south of France. Helton starts with a rose wine made from cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon grapes. He combines that with oranges, lemons, vanilla beans, sugar and brandy and allows it to sit for two to three months. The wine, with 19.5 percent alcohol, has a heady aroma of sweet oranges. The taste is more lemony and tangier at first, followed by sweet vanilla flavors in a long finish. At this price, it's expensive for a half-bottle, but it keeps well after opening. Serve as an after-dinner drink. Available at the winery. For more information, visit www.hanoverparkwines.com.
