With his program continuing a steady rise, Coach Skip Holtz's latest recruiting class at East Carolina features plenty of balance and an emphasis on in-state talent.
The Pirates unveiled a 20-player recruiting class Wednesday, including two junior college transfers. It also has an invited walk-on who was a member of The Associated Press All-State prep football team for North Carolina.
Fourteen of the 20 players are from North Carolina. Holtz said he hopes he can redshirt most of those players, a change from the days of recruiting to fill immediate needs.
Of the 20 players, four are linebackers, three are receivers and three are tight ends. Holtz figures recruits at those positions have the best chance to get on the field in 2009.
