The Rural Hall license-plate agency, located at 1014 Rural Hall Bethania Road, will no longer be open on Saturday mornings effective Jan. 1.
The agency will continue to be open Mondays to Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The agency must close because the computer system that supports plate agencies is no longer consistently available on Saturdays. Without the technical support necessary, license-plate agencies cannot complete vehicle registrations or transfer titles.
License-plate agencies offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle-license renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, there are about 120 license-plate agencies across North Carolina.
