SEVEN DEVILS
Authorities have found the body of a woman missing since Nov. 8.
Deana Elizabeth Schermerhorn's body was found in Seven Devils and positively identified on Tuesday, authorities said today.
It was not immediately clear where her body was found. An autopsy is being done to determine how she died.
Authorities from several agencies had been searching for Schermerhorn for weeks, including a large-scale search of the Seven Devils area on Nov. 20.
Schermerhorn, 41, and her husband, Christopher Warren Meade, 26, and their 4-year-old son had been living in Seven Devils only about a week when she disappeared. They moved there after their home in Caldwell County was destroyed in a fire.
Authorities are looking for Meade for questioning. Their son was returned to family members about four or five days after Schermerhorn disappeared.
Meade is 5-foot-7, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has contacts in Watauga and Caldwell counties, as well as eastern Tennessee and Bristol, Va.
Meade may be driving a maroon 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada, a four-door SUV, with North Carolina license plate of YXR-4449.
Anyone with information about the case should contact the Seven Devils Public Safety Department at 828-963-6760 or Special Agent Wade Colvard of the State Bureau of Investigation at 828-294-2226.
