North Carolina's GOP chairman says he sees little difference between unreported campaign flights by Gov. Beverly Perdue and those by former Gov. Mike Easley.
Republican leader Tom Fetzer asked the State Board of Elections on Monday to examine Perdue's campaign committee for at least five more flights it recently disclosed.
Fetzer asked the board in October to look at 17 private flights Perdue took during her gubernatorial bid which her campaign hadn't properly reported or paid. The campaign ultimately paid $18,000 for the flights.
Perdue said last week disclosing omissions shows she's committed to transparency.
Fetzer said there's a pattern of deceit. The elections board penalized Easley's campaign $100,000 for failing to disclose dozens of flights over the years.
