Woman robs Lexington pharmacy

Lexington Memorial Hospital remained under tight security this morning following the armed robbery of a nearby pharmacy.

The robbery occurred about 3:30 p.m. at Medical Park Pharmacy in the 2300 block of South Main Street. A woman entered the pharmacy with a handgun and stole medicine, Lexington police said. The type of medication was not disclosed.

The robber is described as a white female, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 100 to 120 pounds, wearing camouflage clothing.

The robbery led to a lockdown of the hospital. Last night, Lexington police guarded the doors to the hospital and searched cars as they were leaving.

A hospital spokeswoman said just before 7 a.m. that the lockdown has not ended but that visitors were being allowed into the hospital.
