Prosecutors began introducing physical evidence yesterday in the trial of Dr. Kirk Alan Turner, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Jennifer Jean Wittwer Turner.
Jennifer Turner, 54, was found dead on Sept. 12, 2007, in the shop building of their home at 627 Jack Booe Road. She had gashes on her throat so deep they severed her windpipe, prosecutors have said.
Defense attorneys have argued that Kirk Turner was defending himself from an attack by Jennifer Turner, who they say stabbed her husband with a 7-foot-spear.
The spear, which Kirk Turner had bought, was introduced and shown to the jury.
When the spear was shown, Kirk Turner buried his head into his heads. After the spear was taken away, he took his glasses off and wiped his eyes.
A pocket knife was also introduced. Capt. J.D. Hartman of the Davie County Sheriff's Office testified that the pocket knife was found under Jennifer Turner's body. Other evidence included the clothes Kirk Turner and Jennifer Turner were wearing on Sept. 12, 2007.
Testimony in the case will continue this morning.
