PPG Industries is laying off 110 people at its fiberglass plant in Lexington, according to a statement from the company. The company is a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, specialty materials, glass and fiberglass.
The company announced Friday that it would shut down part of its operations at the Lexington plant, resulting in the layoffs. The 110 employees will be laid off by June 30.
The company cited "unfavorable conditions in the global economy" as a reason for the layoffs. The Lexington plant opened in 1967 and currently employs 420 people. There will be 310 employees left after the layoffs.
