BEIJING -- More than 10,000 children remain hospitalized in China's tainted-milk scandal, Chinese health officials disclosed, as the country defended its dairy products before the World Trade Organization yesterday.
The contamination has so far killed four babies and sickened about 54,000 other children in China.
At a WTO meeting in Geneva, Chinese officials said that Beijing was making enormous efforts to deal with the problem. They also said that the contamination was accidental.
