Ryan Kelly, one of the fastest rising high-school seniors in the country, has decided to play in college for Duke.
Kelly, a 6-9 forward from Raleigh and Ravenscroft High School, made his decision today and announced it at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
"I've taken a lot of time and I've looked at all these schools very thoroughly, much more thoroughly than I think a lot of people do," Kelly said in the announcement. "Really, it all came down to a gut feeling. I think everything about it was the best fit for me. I just can't wait to get there."
Kelly is ranked the No. 14 senior in the country by Bob Gibbons, a high-school basketball recruiting analyst from Lenoir. Kelly had numerous top programs from which to choose.
He was offered grants-in-aid also by Wake Forest, North Carolina, Davidson, N.C. State, Virginia, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Vanderbilt.
He is Duke's second commitment for the Class of 2009 and can sign the binding national letter-of-intent on Nov. 12 when the NCAA's early basketball signing period will begin.
Duke's earlier commitment came from Mason Plumlee, a 6-10 forward from Indiana who attends Christ School in Arden outside of Asheville.
