I am against the temporary bailout of the Big Three automakers for reasons that should be evident to our Congress and most importantly to the executives of GM, Ford and Chrysler. This has nothing to do with political leanings, pro- or anti-union feelings or anything other than my own private market research.
As I walk from my foreign car to friends' front doors, walk from parking lots to stores and travel on the Interstate and secondary roads of our area and across the country, I see row after row and streets full of foreign models. The American public has already voted on this bailout by saying with its pocket books that Detroit has lost touch with our automotive wants and needs. When it comes down to it, we really do not believe that additional billions will help automakers change and produce the innovative products we want and so desperately need.
I would love to buy American; just give me something of value for my hard-earned dollars.

Insulting Interview
What's next for ABC? Perhaps News Anchor Chris Cuomo will interview Osama bin Laden so he can promote his reasons for Sept. 11? ABC has laid insult to every Vietnam veteran by interviewing domestic terrorist Bill Ayers for a Nov. 14 broadcast. The only reason he's not in prison for life is because our government prosecutors screwed up.
Ayers, the son of privilege, rebelled by joining the Weather Underground, an anti-war group that set bombs at the Capitol, the Pentagon and New York City police headquarters during the 1970s. Three group members, including Ayers' then-girlfriend, were killed in a New York City townhouse when one of the bombs they were making exploded. In an interview that was published on Sept. 11, 2001, Ayers was quoted as saying that he didn't regret any of the bombings and that the group didn't do enough.
Today he spews his rhetoric as a "respected" professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago and on ABC. All America should be infuriated with ABC and any institution of learning for employing this man!

Human Life
I disagree with the writer of the letter "Alive" (Nov. 17). An unborn child, at any stage of development, is not only living, it is also human life. To take the life of this "tiny blob of unthinking, unfeeling cells" meets the traditional definition of murder -- taking innocent human life.
Many people say that unborn babies are not yet qualified as human. Why? Because of their size? I am three times bigger than a 4-year-old, but that does not make me more valuable. Is it because of their level of development? A little girl is not worth less than a woman because she can't reproduce; this is again a bad way to discern value. Is it the different environment that the unborn lives in? People all over the world live in very different environments than us; this does not make them more or less valuable. Is it that the unborn is too dependent on an outside source (the mother)? A baby outside the womb is also dependent on another to survive; we cannot use that to justify taking its life.
We must avoid George Orwell's world in Animal Farm where "All are equal, but some are more equal than others."
