Republicans take three seats on the Ashe County Board of Commissioners

JEFFERSON — Ashe County voters elected three Republican county commissioners yesterday for the five-person board. Results were complete, but unofficial.
The winners are incumbent Larry Rhodes, with 6,457 votes; former commissioner Gerald Price, 6,054; and incumbent Judy Porter Poe, 5,877.
Not winning seats on the board were incumbent Marty Gambill, with 5,701 votes; former West Jefferson Mayor Dale Baldwin, with 5,575 votes; and Dallas Shatley, 5,514.
Two incumbents were unopposed for two seats on the Ashe County Board of Education. Winning election were Lee Beckworth, with 7,092 votes, and C.B. Jones Jr., 7,753.
