President Bush to attend Fort Bragg Memorial

»  Comments | Post a Comment

FORT BRAGG
President Bush will attend the rededication of the 82nd Airborne Division's global war on terrorism memorial.
The 82nd's memorial at Fort Bragg has been expanded because there is no more room for the names of the dead on its original granite pillar. The division lost 87 paratroopers in 2007, more than in any other year since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began. Three separate times in Iraq last year, seven or more paratroopers were killed at once.
About 150 members of "Gold Star" families - relatives of those killed - are to join Bush today for the rededication. He will also address the paratroopers at the division's review ceremony.
