MOYANO

CLEMMONS -- I, Sandra Michelle Trujillo de Moyano, took my last breaths under a tree on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at the home of my parents in the open air. During the past six years that I lived with breast cancer, I lived a lifetime. I was born on May 3, 1974, and grew up in Clemmons. I graduated high school from Forsyth Country Day School and received a Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of California at Berkeley. After working several years as a forester, I received a master's degree in Business Administration from UNC-Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill where I met the love of my life, Hernan "Makus" Moyano of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our joint love of adventure led us to Costa Rica where Hernan developed a luxury beach resort and where we eventually started a business in telecommunications. My life has been full of joy, and I am thankful to all my family and friends for making it possible. I leave this world in great peace because during the last six years, I found an intense way of living by living in the present moment. The joy of my life will be carried on by my family and my amazing friends. My husband, Hernan Moyano; my mom and dad, Ilene and Jaime Trujillo; my sister and brother-in-law, Aliana and David Sindram; my aunt, Patti Sink; my nieces, Josine Sindram and Alexia Moyano; my parents-in-law, Hernan and Delfina Moyano; my sisters and brother-in-law, Sofia and Arturo Vargas, Santiago and Cata Moyano and Delfi Moyano; my Colombian family, Umberto and Alba Franco, Fabio and Francia Franco, Byron, Maggie, Linda Lucia and Ilene Cardoso; my uncle and aunt, Richard and Toby Sink; and my cousins, Missy Moore and Beth Beck. I am grateful to Dr. Tom Grote and all the wonderful staff at Piedmont Hematology-Oncology Associates (chemo nurses rock!), Piedmont Radiation Oncology, Dr. Tom Simpson, Dr. Andrew Schneider, Dr. James Sanderford, Dr. Stephen Bower, the PET-CT technicians at Forsyth Medical Center, Forsyth Radiological Associates, and Hospice and Palliative Care for keeping me living, keeping me well and providing me the best state-of-art care that I can only hope that every woman living with this disease can access until the cure is found. Donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of North Carolina (www.nature.org/ wherewework/northamerica/states/northcarolina) or the Young Survival Coalition (www.youngsurvival.org). Spread the love. The Trujillo house and friends are filled with sadness. Sandra leaves an immense vacuum. She was ubiquitous and as large as the universe, and she will always be around us. She was spiritually and personally unbiased; she loved, helped and felt for everyone. She was full of energy and leaves on each of us around her that flame for life -- to live in the now. We will miss her. We will be happy again. A memorial service for Sandra was held Saturday, May 10, at the home of her parents, 3801 North Lakeshore Drive, Clemmons, NC 27012. All family, friends and colleagues were invited to join Sandra' s celebration in her memory.
