The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will decide tonight whether to raise rural garbage-collection fees in the face of rising diesel-fuel prices.

The proposed increase would raise the fee by 39 cents as of July 1 to $15.22 for curbside pickup and to $18.22 for backyard pickup. The new rates would apply only to people in unincorporated areas who contract with a private hauler.

The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Forsyth County Government Center on Chestnut Street.
