Construction on two stretches of Interstate 40 in Davie County could affect traffic this week, officials with the N.C. Department of Transportation said.

The right lane will be closed on a five-mile section of eastbound I-40 near Mocksville so that contractors can install rumble strips on the outside shoulder.

One lane of westbound traffic will be closed along a five-mile stretch of I-40 near Bermuda Run so that contractors can pave both travel lanes and shoulders. Motorists should stay alert for trucks pulling in and out of traffic, DOT officials said.

Closures are expected to stay in place until noon Friday
