"Red Tails" (PG-13): Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard head the cast of this historical drama, which was produced by George Lucas. It tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first black combat unit during World War II, as they fight both the Axis forces and racism within their own ranks. The Blu-ray edition includes extensive behind-the-scenes features, including interviews and a look at the historical story behind the film.

There's a moment early on in "Men in Black 3" when Will Smith's Agent J sits down next to his longtime partner, Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K, and bemoans the fact that he's too old for this sort of thing — for running around New York in matching dark suits, chasing down aliens and zapping them with their shiny metal weaponry doo-hickeys.
In analyzing Sacha Baron Cohen and the array of offbeat characters he has created, it's clear that it's become a matter of diminishing returns.
"Chronicle" (R): Dane DeHaan, an alumnus of the UNC School of the Arts, is the star of this impressive science-fiction drama. The story revolves around three high school students (DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan) who encounter a mysterious artifact that gives them superhuman abilities. The movie is shot using the technique of "found footage" a la "The Blair Witch Project" and "Cloverfield," but with more focus on character development. Anna Wood, a fellow alum of UNCSA and DeHaan's fiancé, has an amusing cameo.
If only "What to Expect When You're Expecting" had focused on the dads' group, and didn't just drop in on them a handful of times, we might have been onto something here.
"Battleship" is big, dumb fun that knows it's big, dumb fun and enthusiastically embraces its big, dumb, fun nature.
If the romantic drama "The Deep Blue Sea" had a relationship status, it would be "It's complicated."
"Underworld: Awakening" (R): Kate Beckinsale returns to the action-horror franchise for this fourth installment. The series revolves around a long-running secret war between vampires and werewolves. This time around, their numbers have largely been eradicated by human intervention, until Selene (Beckinsale), a centuries-old vampire warrior, awakens from suspended animation to put things right. The DVD has commentary; the Blu-ray adds five featurettes, a blooper reel, a music video and a picture-in-picture commentary. The movie is also available on 3-D Blu-ray.
Get warmed up for 'The Avengers'
"Haywire" (R): Mixed martial arts star Gina Carano stars in this fast-paced action film from prolific director Steven Soderbergh. She plays a black-ops agent who is double-crossed and goes out for revenge. The supporting cast includes Michael Fassbender, Bill Paxton, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and Channing Tatum. Extras include interviews and footage of Carano in training.

"The Wicker Tree" (R): Now that we've gotten Nicolas Cage's terrible "Wicker Man" remake out of the way, the director of the original film returns to show Hollywood how it should be done. Written and directed by Robin Hardy, this sequel/remake/reboot of the 1973 classic follows two Americans (Brittania Nicol and Henry Garrett) who go to Scotland on a mission to spread the gospel, only to discover a seemingly quaint village with a dark secret. The result isn't as chilling or brilliant as the original film, but it's far better than the 2006 Cage version.
"Found Memories" — a feature film set in a South American village — and "Monsieur Lazhar" — a feature set in a Montreal classroom — won top honors at the RiverRun International Film Festival on Sunday night.
One aspect of the RiverRun International Film Festival that many people enjoy is the fact that it gives them a chance to see local, student-made films. And this year they're not just coming from the UNC School of the Arts.
"Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol" (PG-13): Tom Cruise is back in action in the latest film in the "Mission Impossible" franchise, which is based on the hit TV series. This time around, the Impossible Missions Force has been framed after a bombing at the Kremlin and must go on the run while trying to figure out who was really behind the bombing. The supporting cast includes Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. Director Brad Bird is best known for animated films such as "The Incredibles."
Martha Stephens, a graduate of the UNC School of the Arts, is looking forward to coming back to Winston-Salem this week.
After Jerry Ensminger's 9-year-old daughter died in 1985 of a rare form of leukemia, he started asking himself why.
"We Bought a Zoo" (PG): Matt Damon stars in this amiable family-friendly comedy-drama from writer-director Cameron Crowe. It tells the story of a widower who buys a broken-down zoo in southern California. Crowe keeps the most mawkish manipulations to a minimum in a movie that moves through its requisite stages — grief, acceptance, zany sight gags and healing — with smooth, entertaining efficiency. The low-key appeal of "We Bought a Zoo" is nearly impossible to resist. Extras include commentary by Crowe, actor J.B. Smoove and editor Mark Livolsi; deleted and extended scenes; a gag reel; and three making-of featurettes.

Like a lot of you, I went, "Huh?" when the films "Chico & Rita" and "A Cat in Paris" popped up among the nominees for best animated feature during this year's Oscars telecast, along with "Kung Fu Panda 2," "Puss in Boots" and "Rango."
Two more movies have been added to the RiverRun International Film Festival, which starts April 13 in Winston-Salem.
