Super Double specials deliver the best of deals

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The most exciting time for a couponer is a coupon event at a grocery store.

One of the best is a Super Double. Super Doubles are so exciting that we often prepare our lists days in advance and often go to a store several times during the week. The savings can be astronomical. I have saved more than 99 percent, paying less than 50 cents for $70 worth of products.

Lowes Foods started a Super Double on Wednesday, two days ago, and it continues through Tuesday. Harris Teeter is expected to have a Super Double in the next few weeks.

Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter double coupons that are 99 cents or less every day, but during a Super Double, they double coupons that are $1.98 or less.

For example, during Super Doubles, a coupon that is $1.50 will deduct $3 off the cost of the item. A coupon that is $1.99 or more will be redeemed at the face value of the coupon. The coupon is doubled only up to the sale price of the item. For example, a $1.50 coupon for an item on sale for $2.50 will be doubled only up to the sale price of $2.50.

Generally, the regular coupon acceptance policies are still enforced, and the only change is the value of the coupons that are doubled. At both stores you can double only 20 coupons each day.

Harris Teeter will double three of the same coupon. Any additional ones are redeemed at face value. Lowes Foods will double four of the same coupon. Both stores accept only two of the same coupon that are printed at home from the Internet.

The 20-coupon limit includes coupons that are "super doubled" and their regular 99 cent or less doubled coupons. It's important to keep this in mind when deciding which 20 coupons to use each day.

The best way to maximize your savings is to stock up on items that are free. Combining a sale with Super Doubles is a wonderful opportunity to get good deals. MoolaSavingMom.com has the advertised specials matched with the available coupons.

During a Super Double, be prepared for more shoppers in the stores. You might find many products out of stock. Don't get too frustrated. Always ask customer service for a rain check if the item was on sale. Rain checks will guarantee you the sale price at a later date, but they will not include the Super Double promotion. With the never-expiring Harris Teeter rain checks, hold on to them until the next Super Double. Lowes Foods rain checks expire 30 days after they are written.

During a Super Double, the best day to shop is after the store has received a shipment of products. This is the best chance to find the most-wanted deals because the store will be able to restock those deals. Your local store can tell you when its next shipment is expected.

Super Doubles are exciting for couponers. There will be a lot of great deals we will see only during these promotions. Now is the time to use all those coupons that are more than $1. You can get amazing savings using coupons during normal weeks, but during a Super Double week, the savings are super.
