"50/50" (R): This poignant comedy, inspired by the real experience of screenwriter Will Reiser, looks at how Adam, a 27-year-old man played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, copes with cancer with humor, grace and determination. Seth Rogen, in real life a friend of Reiser, stars as Adam's blustery best friend, whose dark sense of humor comes in handy. The cast also includes Anjelica Huston, Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard. Extras include audio commentary, deleted scenes, and a featurette about the story behind the film.

"Real Steel" (PG-13): Rock'em Sock'em Robots come to life in this blend of science fiction and sports drama, set in the near future when humans have been replaced with robots in the boxing ring. It's the typical story of a down-and-out boxer (Hugh Jackman) getting a second chance to prove himself, but in this case he's using an 8-foot-tall mechanical surrogate. The DVD has a few featurettes and bloopers, but the Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray editions are loaded with extras, including deleted and extended scenes.

"Paranormal Activity 3" (Unrated): The horror franchise returns for a third installment, this one a prequel. Like the other films in the series, the story is told through "found footage." Both the DVD and Blu-ray have an unrated cut of the film, and the Blu-ray also has the theatrical cut and bonus scenes.

"Cinematic Titanic Live: War of the Insects" (Unrated): The latest in this series from some of the creators of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" — which, like "MST3K," focuses on comedians mocking bad movies — is a bizarre 1966 sci-fi film about irradiated insects running amok on a Japanese island. The riffers, including Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu and Mary Jo Pehl, perform in front of a live audience, and some of the funniest moments come when jokes fall flat and they quickly recover. The film is not in stores, but is available on DVD or digital download from www.cinematictitanic.com.

"Memphis" (Unrated): The hit Broadway musical, a touring edition of which is currently playing in Durham, comes to DVD and Blu-ray with the original Broadway cast. The production won four Tony awards.

"The Whistleblower" (R): Rachel Weisz stars in this thriller about a United Nations peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia trying to uncover a sinister secret.

"Lethal Ladies Collection 2" (R): The latest DVD in the "Roger Corman's Cult Classics" collection is a triple-feature with three of the producer's 1970s drive-in exploitation movies, which feature plenty of action, gore and gratuitous nudity. Most notable is "The Arena," set in ancient Rome, with Winston-Salem native Pam Grier as one of four beautiful captives forced to fight in the gladiatorial arena. There's also "Cover Girl Models," an espionage thriller, and "Fly Me," about stewardesses with martial arts skills who take on hijackers in mid-flight.

"Wings" (Unrated): The first Oscar-winner for Best Picture comes to DVD and Blu-ray. The 1927 silent drama follows two World War I flying aces who are caught up in a love triangle with a girl from their hometown (Clara Bow).

"The Doors: Mr. Mojo Risin': The Story of L.A. Woman" (Unrated): This documentary has archival footage of the Doors performing in the studio and on stage as they prepared one of their most popular albums, their last with Jim Morrison. It's available on DVD or Blu-ray, with bonus footage and a new, previously unreleased song.

Richard Pryor on Blu-ray: Three of the comedian's films come to Blu-ray. Two are R-rated comedies co-starring Gene Wilder: "Stir Crazy," in which the duo play hapless jailbirds, and "See No Evil, Hear No Evil," in which they are a blind man and his deaf friend who witness a murder. The third film, "The Toy," is a lackluster PG comedy in which Pryor is recruited to entertain the spoiled son of a millionaire (Jackie Gleason).

Also new: "Coast Guard," a Korean drama about a border guard who has to deal with the repercussions of an act he commits in the line of the duty, with behind-the-scenes interviews and commentary "Killing Bono," a comedy about aspiring Irish musicians who find their path to fame blocked when their classmates form the band U2 and become stars; "Mannix: The Sixth Season," with Mike Connors as the no-nonsense private eye; and "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns: Season Four," with 20 episodes of the popular sitcom from writer/producer Perry.
