Come out to play — if you'd like to perform rather than just watch, many of Winston-Salem's night spots provide you with the chance to do just that. From 9 to midnight each Wednesday, the band Breakin' Jimmy's Martin hosts an open bluegrass jam at the Old Winston-Social Club at 1131 Burke St. And Krankies, at 211 E. Third St., will have an open mic for poets as part of today's Piedmont Slam, starting at 7:30 p.m.; and for musicians at Monday's Free Improv Sessions, also starting at 7:30 p.m. Though there's not one this week, the Garage has open mic nights many Wednesdays; the next one is set for June 8.
