Playwright cites exhaustion

Tyler Perry has canceled the remainder of the tour of his latest play, Madea’s Big Happy Family, including a performance planned for Greensboro Coliseum next Thursday.

The Oct. 21 show in Greensboro is one of more than 30 performances around the country that were canceled. In a message to fans on his website, Perry apologized and explained that after 125 performances and filming two movies back-to-back, “it’s all become too much. I’m truly so exhausted.”

“I feel terrible about this and hope you can understand but right now I’m not capable of giving you the show you want and deserve,” he wrote. “I hope one day soon I will be able to make it up to you.”

Ticketholders can get refunds through their points of purchase.
