Whip It (PG-13): Ellen Page stars in this cheerful tribute to girl power set on the roller-derby rink. She plays Bliss Cavendar, a small-town girl who finds her calling when she straps on the roller skates and hits the floor as "Babe Ruthless." The supporting cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Daniel Stern, Drew Barrymore (who also directed), Jimmy Fallon and Kristen Wiig, plus cameos by real-life roller-derby girls. Blu-ray and DVD extras include deleted and alternate scenes plus an alternate opening.

Surrogates (PG-13): Think of it as Sims run amok. Bruce Willis stars in this futuristic thriller set in a world where people live out their fantasies by being mentally linked to robotic avatars who go out into the real world while the actual person stays at home. But when the death of a surrogate feeds back and kills the real person, a cop (Willis) moves in to investigate. The cast also includes James Cromwell and Ving Rhames.

Saw VI (R): Bunnies frolic in a field of daisies. No, actually, this is just another in the seemingly never-ending series that mistakes gruesomeness for genuine horror. As an extra, the first movie in the series is also included.

Sherlock Holmes (Unrated): Think the recent theatrical film played fast and loose with the original Holmes stories? This campy straight-to-video movie, with Torchwood's Gareth David-Lloyd as Dr. Watson, puts the Baker Street duo up against a dinosaur, a giant squid, a steam-powered Iron Man, and more.

Pontypool (Unrated): This odd, intriguing little horror film follows a past-his-prime radio "shock jock" (Stephen McHattie of Watchmen) whose latest job has stuck him in a small Canadian town in the dead of winter. While he's on the air, he begins hearing about zombie-like attacks, and must decide whether to stay on the air or flee.

Give 'Em Hell Malone (Unrated): Thomas Jane and Ving Rhames star in this cliché-filled but enjoyable film noir about a private eye, a bunch of thugs, a briefcase and a beautiful dame.

WWII in HD (Unrated): Rare color footage from World War II is shown in this mesmerizing History Channel documentary series, available on DVD or Blu-ray.

You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown: The stage version of the Peanuts cartoon gets animated in this 1987 special, with Charlie Brown, Linus and the rest of the gang singing and dancing.

Bonekickers (Unrated): In this British drama from the creators of Life on Mars, an intrepid team of archeologists investigate historical mysteries. Think of it as a cross between Indiana Jones, The Da Vinci Code, and Primeval.

Prom Night in Mississippi (Unrated): Morgan Freeman stars in this documentary about the attempt to end a decades-old practice in his Mississippi hometown, where black and white high-school students hold separate proms.

Also New on DVD This Week: I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, a raunchy comedy about a womanizer who gets his comeuppance; Jackie Chan Presents Wushu, a martial-arts film starring frequent Chan co-star Sammo Hung; The Boys are Back, a drama with Clive Owen as a single dad; Bright Star; about the love affair between English poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne; The Whitest Kids U' Know: The Complete Second Season, an absurdist and frequently raunchy sketch-comedy show; The Jonas Brothers in I Heart Jonas; Go, Diego, Go: Lion Cub Rescue; SpongeBob SquarePants: Viking-Sized Adventure; Pie in the Sky: Series 2; and Pawn Stars: The Complete First Season.

Now on Blu-ray: Two sumptuous dramas starring Keira Knightley, Pride & Prejudice with Matthew Macfadyen and Atonement with James McAvoy; the original 1980 film version of Fame; and The Toolbox Murders, a 1978 gorefest about a killer whose weapons of choice are handyman's tools.
