Zombies make life difficult for those who didn't change

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Zombieland (R): Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg star in this inventive and occasionally gory horror-comedy about the survivors of a zombie plague who go on a cross-country trip trying to find a safe haven. Along the way, they meet other survivors and come up with clever ways to stay alive.

Extras include featurettes, deleted scenes and commentary.

Amelia (R): Pioneering pilot Amelia Earhart is the subject of this biopic, starring Hilary Swank, Richard Gere, Ewan McGregor and Christopher Eccleston. Extras include vintage newsreels and deleted scenes.

New York, I Love You (R): A huge ensemble cast stars in this anthology of short romantic stories, including Bradley Cooper, Andy Garcia, Natalie Portman, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, James Caan, Shia Labeouf, Julie Christie, Shu Qi, Robin Wright Penn, Cloris Leachman, Eli Wallach and Chris Cooper.

Love Happens (PG-13): In this romantic drama, Aaron Eckhart stars as a self-help guru whose personal life is a mess until he meets a fiesty, independent florist (Jennifer Aniston). Sparks fly. Extras include deleted scenes and commentary.

Planet Hulk (Unrated): The Hulk becomes a gladiator on an alien planet in this tedious straight-to-video animated film based on a popular Marvel Comics storyline.

Whatever She Wants (Unrated): Vivica A. Fox and Richard Roundtree star in filmmaker Je'caryous Johnson's adaptation of his stage play, a romantic comedy-drama about a woman who starts a private club.

Doctor Who — The Complete Specials (Unrated): David Tennant's final year as the time-traveling Doctor includes stories set in Victorian London, a desert planet, a Martian colony, and modern day. The boxed set, on DVD or Blu-ray, has more than seven hours of extras, including documentaries, a concert based on the show's score, deleted scenes, and commentaries. All four stories in the set are also available individually.

TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection: Three more volumes of this series, each with four movies, come to DVD. Romance has Splendor in the Grass, Mogambo, Now Voyager and Love in the Afternoon; Sci-Fi Adventures has The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, World Without End, Them! and Satellite in the Sky; and Marx Brothers has four comedies: A Day at the Races, At the Circus, A Night in Casablanca, and Room Service.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas on Blu-ray (R): Terry Gilliam's surreal take on Hunter S. Thompson's already-surreal book comes to Blu-ray with stunning picture quality but very few extras. Johnny Depp and Benecio Del Toro star as a duo hitting early-1970s Vegas, high on every drug they can get their hands on.

The Wolf Man Special Edition (Unrated): With Del Toro's big-screen remake hitting theaters next weekend, Universal re-releases the 1941 classic on DVD. Extras include more than three hours of documentaries about the film, star Lon Chaney Jr., makeup artist Jack Pierce and more.

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning (R): Tony Jaa co-directed and stars in this Thai action movie, about a man who wants to avenge the murder of his parents. The film has incredible stunts and choreography.

More Than a Game (PG): This uplifting documentary looks at the high-school basketball careers of future NBA star LeBron James and four of his friends.

Also new on DVD: The concert film Liza's at the Palace with Liza Minnelli; Doc Martin Series 3; Universal Soldier: Regeneration; Wanda Sykes: I'ma Be Me, a comedy special with the fiesty comedian; a new volume of the kid's series Yo Gabba Gabba; and a new special edition of the kid-friendly dog movie Air Bud: Golden Receiver.
