JAZZ AND SOUL AND …
Raheem n ’Nem will perform Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Underground Theatre of The Community Arts Café in the lower level, 411 W. Fourth St. The music of Raheem n ’Nem is soulful and eclectic, with prominent traces of gospel, jazz, R&B, country, and even some folk. The show will open with jazz artist Carly Williams. LOFTY JAZZ
Piedmont Jazz Alliance will present author Sam Stephenson and jazz drummer Ronnie Free at the Arts Community Café411 W. Fourth St., for a presentation of the award-winning Jazz Loft Project next Thursday at 7 p.m.
Stephenson will present The Making of the Jazz Loft Project, which features photographer W. Eugene Smith’s tapes and images and sign copies of his book, “The Jazz Loft Project: Photographs and Tapes of W. Eugene Smith From 821 Sixth Avenue, 1957-1965.”
After the presentation, Free and his trio (Gary Moran, piano;Royce Campbell, bass) will perform. Free will open the last set for a jam session open to all who wish to play with the band. Admission is free.
